Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday commended the Pakistan Navy for its vital role in safeguarding the nation, particularly highlighting its exemplary performance during Marka-e-Haq. He also described the recently finalized US-Iran agreement as a significant achievement and a source of pride for Pakistan.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of the 125th Midshipmen Course and the 33rd Short Service Commission Course held at the Pakistan Naval Academy, PNS Rahbar, the prime minister extended his congratulations to the graduating cadets and their families on reaching this important milestone.

He expressed satisfaction at the participation of cadets from allied countries in the ceremony, noting that the graduating group included officers from Bahrain, Iraq, and Djibouti. This, he said, underscored Pakistan’s ongoing defence collaboration with friendly nations.

PM Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s global reputation as a champion of peace and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to further enhancing the capabilities of the Pakistan Navy.

In a significant development, he praised the US-Iran agreement, stating it was a matter of pride for Pakistan and predicted that relations between Islamabad and Tehran would strengthen following the recent visit of the Iranian president.

The prime minister also accused foreign entities of supporting terrorism within Pakistan, though he did not specify any countries involved.

Earlier in the day, PM Shehbaz arrived in Karachi for a one-day visit to attend the event as the chief guest. During the ceremony, he presented awards to outstanding cadets and engaged with the graduating officers and their families.

Among the award recipients, Officer Cadet Alveera Hamza was honored with the Commandant Gold Medal, while Officer Cadet Hafiz Muhammad Ahmed Munawar received the Chief of Defence Forces Gold Medal. The Academy Dirk Midshipman award was given to Hadi Abbas Khan, and Midshipman Umar Mukhtar earned the Sword of Honour for his exceptional overall performance.

The ceremony marked the graduation of 123 midshipmen and 30 Short Service Commission cadets. Prominent attendees included Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
