Preparations for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have been completed, with polling staff already deployed to their assigned stations ahead of the voting day. Polling is scheduled to commence at 8am and will continue without interruption until 5pm, enabling voters throughout the region to exercise their electoral rights.

Voting will take place across all 24 constituencies of Gilgit-Baltistan, where a total of 958,000 registered voters are expected to participate. The Election Commission has confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth and efficient electoral process.

To facilitate the elections, 1,389 polling stations and 2,450 polling booths have been established across the territory. Of these, 1,268 booths are allocated for male voters, 1,112 for female voters, and 68 are designated as joint polling booths.

A total of 404 candidates are contesting for the 24 assembly seats, including 396 men and eight women. Notably, a large portion of the candidates, 266 in total, are running as independents, reflecting a diverse political contest.

Election officials have confirmed that polling staff are in place, while security and administrative measures have been implemented to maintain a peaceful and transparent election environment.

In a significant development, the Gilgit-Baltistan elections are attracting close attention as political parties and independent candidates vie for representation in the region’s legislative assembly. The results are expected to influence the political dynamics of Gilgit-Baltistan for the coming five years.
