With the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections scheduled for June 7, Shigar authorities have finalized all critical preparations as polling day approaches. Election officials, security personnel, and polling staff are actively engaged in the final stages of pre-election duties to ensure a smooth voting process.

The Election Commission has completed the distribution of election materials across the district, and polling staff have started reporting to their assigned stations. Some officials have already participated in early voting, marking the beginning of the electoral exercise. Deployment of polling personnel at designated locations is nearing completion, while returning officers remain busy coordinating last-minute administrative tasks.

Campaign activities have intensified as candidates make their final efforts to engage voters. Preparations for all 71 polling stations in Shigar have been confirmed as complete, with logistical arrangements in place to facilitate orderly polling operations. Authorities emphasize that these elections will significantly influence the district’s political landscape.

Security measures have been substantially reinforced to maintain peace during the elections. Of the 71 polling stations, 17 are classified as highly sensitive and 26 as sensitive, prompting increased security presence at these sites. To bolster local law enforcement, approximately 350 Punjab Police personnel have been deployed to Shigar, working alongside the Pakistan Army, local police, and other agencies, all on high alert.

Special security protocols have been established to protect voters and polling staff, especially in sensitive areas. Plans for surveillance, patrolling, and static deployments have been finalized to ensure uninterrupted polling activities. Meanwhile, district administration and election authorities continue to closely monitor the situation through coordination centers overseeing developments in real time.

With voter enthusiasm reportedly high and public focus on the upcoming polls, Shigar is set for a closely contested election that carries considerable political significance for the region.
