Four fishermen have died within seven days of returning from nearly a month at sea, according to Sukkun police. Police said two of them died five days ago, another died the previous day and the fourth died today.
Treatment and reported cause of the deaths
All four fishermen were being treated at different hospitals. Doctors reportedly declared the deaths natural, police said. Police added that the men had developed a condition in which they could not pass stool or urine.
Families describe kidney pain and a spiritual illness
Family members said the fishermen had complained of kidney pain after coming back from the sea. They also told relatives they believed they had developed a spiritual illness. The families of the deceased have expressed no desire to pursue legal action, police said.
