Security forces successfully eliminated four terrorists affiliated with the India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij group during two separate intelligence-driven operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday.
The military’s media wing detailed that these operations took place overnight between June 3 and 4, 2026, targeting hostile elements in the Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand districts. In Dera Ismail Khan, security personnel acted on intelligence reports indicating the presence of Fitna al-Khawarij militants. The troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, resulting in the death of two militants.
Meanwhile, another operation was conducted in Mohmand district, where security forces skillfully confronted and neutralized two additional terrorists from the same group. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased militants, who had been actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the region.
The ISPR reaffirmed that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, conducted under the strategic vision “Azm e Istehkam” and endorsed by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will persist with full intensity. This campaign aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism and its supporters from Pakistan.
Since 2021, Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist incidents, especially in KP and Balochistan provinces, following the Afghan Taliban’s takeover. In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” which resulted in the deaths of approximately 684 Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants, with over 900 injured and 252 militant strongholds destroyed, as stated by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
In October 2025, border clashes intensified after unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban and allied militants on Pakistani border posts. These confrontations led to the deaths of more than 200 Taliban fighters and allied militants, while 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred defending the country. Despite multiple negotiation attempts, no agreement has been reached, largely due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s unwillingness to act against terrorist groups.
