Bilawal Calls on Gilgit-Baltistan Voters to Support PPP for Development

GILGIT: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called on the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to cast their votes in favor of his party, emphasizing that PPP will spearhead stronger development projects in the region. He highlighted his personal visits to every tehsil and various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan to better understand the local needs.

Addressing a large gathering of political supporters, Bilawal recalled his previous election campaigns in Gilgit-Baltistan, including a recent visit to Skardu. He expressed a deep emotional connection to the area, noting that the PPP has consistently supported the people of Gilgit-Baltistan across generations.

In a significant development, Bilawal praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his peace efforts and extended prayers for their success. He mentioned his intention to campaign actively this time but acknowledged that the current atmosphere is overshadowed by mourning.

Turning to international affairs, he referenced the ongoing crisis in Iran, stating it has caused considerable loss of life. He controversially claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred and accused Zionist forces of bombing a girls’ school in Iran.

Bilawal further noted that the Iran–US tensions have global repercussions, with ongoing violence in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, and added that these conflicts are straining world economies.

He reiterated that the PPP stands for the underprivileged, emphasizing that true economic progress involves empowering farmers, supporting workers, and generating employment opportunities for the youth.

Highlighting historical achievements, Bilawal recalled how Zulfikar Ali Bhutto empowered farmers by granting land ownership and strengthened workers through industrial ownership, policies he said are essential for national advancement.

He also credited Asif Ali Zardari with realizing the vision of “roti, kapra aur makan” through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

Notably, Bilawal pointed out that Pakistan remains the only nuclear-armed Muslim country, which he said deters adversaries. He attributed the country’s nuclear program to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and acknowledged Benazir Bhutto’s role in advancing Pakistan’s missile technology.
