Punjab Govt to Release Salaries and Pensions Early Ahead of Eid

The Punjab government has decided to release salaries and pensions earlier than usual to provide financial relief to government employees and pensioners ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. The Punjab Finance Department has issued an official notification confirming that payments for the month of May will be made on May 21.

This initiative aims to support citizens in managing their expenses for the upcoming Eid celebrations. All concerned departments have been instructed to expedite the processing of payments. Additionally, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and commercial banks have been directed to ensure timely transfers, so beneficiaries receive their funds without any delays.

Officials emphasize that the early disbursement is intended to ease the financial burden on employees and retirees, allowing them to prepare for Eid well in advance and avoid last-minute difficulties.

In a significant development regarding Eid-ul-Adha, the exact dates will depend on the moon sighting that marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah. If the moon is sighted on May 17, Eid is expected to fall between May 27 and May 29. However, if the moon is not visible and the lunar month completes 30 days, Eid could be observed between May 28 and May 30.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet around May 17 to officially announce the start of the new month. Based on these projections, public holidays are likely to be observed from May 27 to May 29, with the possibility of extended breaks depending on how the dates coincide with the weekend.
