Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, held a significant meeting with Karan Bhatia, Vice President and Global Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google, on Tuesday. The discussion took place during the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington.
During the meeting, the finance minister praised Google’s ongoing efforts in Pakistan, highlighting its training and capacity-building initiatives focused on artificial intelligence. He also lauded the company’s milestone achievement of locally assembling Google Chromebooks within Pakistan and welcomed Google’s plan to establish an office in the country by July 2026.
Both parties explored current and upcoming projects being developed in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan to advance AI adoption across vital sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing. In a notable development, they reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepen cooperation, supporting Pakistan’s broader agenda for digital transformation and technological progress.
