Fire Destroys 10 Shops in Lahore’s Sabzi Mandi, Woman Dies in Pindi Gheb Blaze

On Tuesday, a fierce fire erupted in the bustling Sabzi Mandi located in the Gajju Matta area of Lahore, engulfing 10 shops and reducing them to complete ruins. The blaze spread rapidly through the market, causing significant destruction before emergency responders arrived at the scene. Firefighters and Rescue 1122 teams worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control, battling the inferno with great urgency to prevent further damage.

Despite their relentless efforts, the fire had already caused extensive damage by the time it was finally extinguished. The affected shops, which served as vital commercial outlets for local vendors, suffered heavy losses, impacting the livelihoods of many small business owners in the area. Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, but initial investigations are underway to understand what triggered the incident in this busy market.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck in the Attock district on the same day when a fire broke out in a residential house in a village near Pindi Gheb. The fire claimed the life of a woman who was trapped inside the burning home. Emergency services rushed to the location, but unfortunately, she succumbed to severe burns before she could be rescued. Her body was subsequently transported to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for post-mortem examination and further procedures.

These two incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by emergency response teams in managing fire outbreaks in both commercial and residential settings. The Sabzi Mandi fire underscores the vulnerability of densely packed marketplaces to such disasters, while the fatal house fire in Pindi Gheb raises concerns about fire safety measures in rural homes. Both events have prompted calls for improved fire prevention strategies and better public awareness to avoid similar tragedies in the future.

Rescue 1122 officials have urged shopkeepers and residents to adopt stricter safety protocols, including the installation of fire extinguishers and clear evacuation plans. As investigations continue, local authorities are expected to review safety regulations and emergency preparedness to mitigate the risk of such devastating fires. The community remains shaken by these incidents, mourning the losses and hoping for swift recovery and support for those affected.
