In a deeply disturbing event that has shocked the local community, a man in Sargodha district of Punjab allegedly murdered his wife along with their five children using an axe. The brutal attack occurred late Sunday night in Chak 25 South, a village located in the Bhalwal area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bhera Police Station. Authorities have identified the accused as Yaseen Mallah.

The victims of this tragic incident include Yaseen’s wife, Farukhanda, and their five children, whose ages ranged from infancy to late adolescence. The deceased children were Noor Fatima, aged 18, Ali Hassan, 14, Tayyab, 11, Hasnain, 2, and a one-year-old son whose name has not been disclosed. The scale of the loss has left the entire village in mourning, grappling with the senselessness of the crime.

Following the attack, the suspect reportedly inflicted injuries upon himself. Emergency responders rushed him to the district headquarters hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Rescue teams also transported the bodies of the deceased family members to the hospital for post-mortem examinations, which are crucial for the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement officials have registered a formal case based on a complaint filed by the brother of the deceased woman. Investigations are actively underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the killings. Early inquiries suggest that the motive behind this horrific act may have stemmed from allegations of an illicit relationship involving the suspect’s wife and daughter. Yaseen Mallah is said to have claimed that his actions were driven by a perceived need to protect his family’s honour, a justification that authorities are scrutinizing closely.

The community is awaiting the completion of legal and forensic procedures before the victims’ funeral prayers can be held in their native village. This tragic episode highlights the ongoing challenges related to honour-based violence in rural Pakistan, where such incidents continue to raise serious concerns about social and familial dynamics. Meanwhile, police have vowed to carry out a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served in this heartbreaking case.
