Karachi-based LPG associations have called a nationwide strike beginning 16 November 2026. They warned that businesses across the country will close if the government does not meet their demands within 15 days.
Ali Haider, the chairman of the LPG Marketers Association, said a new government pricing plan could raise prices by 25 to 30 per cent. He said the bureaucracy had decided to apply the rate of LPG imported by sea to the entire country.
Impact on bowser supplies and local production
Haider said roughly 90 per cent of LPG supplied in Pakistan currently moves by bowser. He added that domestically produced LPG, which makes up about 30 per cent of national supply, would become far more expensive under the formula.
Associations reject pricing plan at urgent meeting
The strike declaration came after an urgent gathering of LPG bodies today. Every participating association turned down the revised pricing plan.
