Update · 28 Oct 2026, 5:20 PM PKT: Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said two students were killed in the attack on the girls' college in Nushki, which he attributed to the BLA.
Bugti's figure of two dead is in addition to the three students who were wounded in the attack.
Four gunmen with their faces covered attacked a girls’ degree college in Nushki district of Balochistan, leaving three students wounded, police said. Initial reports indicate the assailants came on two motorcycles, damaged two CCTV cameras and vandalised the principal’s office. The principal was away from her office when the attack took place.
The gunmen reportedly threatened students inside the campus before opening fire. Police and law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene and began a search operation to track down the attackers.
Three injured students receive hospital treatment
The wounded students were named as Bibi Maryam, daughter of Ghulam Rasool; Bibi Maimoona, daughter of Saeed Ahmed; and Bibi Rukhsana, daughter of Mola Bakhsh. All three were taken to a hospital for care.
Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Home Department aide Babar Yousafzai visited a private hospital on the instructions of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to check on the students. Kakar said they were receiving the best possible care and that the provincial government would cover all treatment costs.
Kakar praised the students for their bravery in a difficult situation. He said attacks on educational institutions would not weaken the determination of local people.
Home minister orders tighter security at girls’ colleges
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau took notice of the shooting and asked for a comprehensive report within a day. An official statement said he also ordered authorities to tighten security at all educational institutions, especially girls’ colleges, across Rakhshan Division.
Babar Yousafzai said in a statement that people he described as facilitators of “Fitna al-Hindustan” were behind the attack on the girls’ college. He said such elements would not achieve their alleged objectives and added that the injured students had been promised all possible assistance.
