Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, conducted a significant visit to Wana in South Waziristan on Wednesday. This high-profile trip was aimed at closely examining the current security landscape and the operational readiness of troops stationed along the critical western border with Afghanistan. The visit underscores the military’s ongoing commitment to maintaining stability and countering threats in one of the country’s most sensitive regions.

Upon his arrival in Wana, the Field Marshal was warmly welcomed by the Corps Commander Peshawar, reflecting the importance of this visit at the highest levels of military leadership. One of the poignant moments during the trip was when he laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument, a solemn tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending Pakistan’s sovereignty. By offering Fateha, he paid deep respects to these martyrs, emphasizing that their sacrifices form the very foundation of the nation’s security and resilience in the face of ongoing challenges.

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir received an extensive briefing on the prevailing security conditions, with senior commanders providing detailed insights into intelligence-driven operations and the measures being implemented to secure the border. Particular attention was given to Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, a key military campaign targeting militant groups in the region. The commanders also updated him on the latest developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, highlighting the strategic posture and preparedness of forces deployed in this volatile area.

The army chief was informed about the comprehensive steps taken to counter militant threats and ensure stability in these sensitive border zones. This included discussions on enhanced surveillance systems, improved coordination among various military formations, and the broader strategic framework guiding Pakistan’s defense policy on the western front. These efforts are crucial in preventing cross-border terrorism and safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity.

In addition to the briefings, Field Marshal Asim Munir engaged directly with officers and troops stationed in forward positions. He lauded their professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering morale amid ongoing skirmishes and security challenges. His words of encouragement highlighted the troops’ steadfast dedication to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and contributing to peace and stability in the region.

Importantly, the Field Marshal reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against the use of Afghan soil by terrorist groups such as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan to launch attacks against Pakistan. He made it clear that such activities are unacceptable and assured that all necessary measures would be taken to neutralize these threats effectively. Furthermore, he stressed that enduring peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan can only be realized if the Afghan Taliban unequivocally abandon their support for terrorism and terrorist organizations operating against Pakistan.

Concluding his visit, Field Marshal Munir expressed full confidence in the combat readiness, cohesion, and resilience of the military formations guarding the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. His visit not only reinforced the army’s commitment to national security but also sent a strong message about Pakistan’s zero tolerance policy towards cross-border terrorism, underscoring the country’s resolve to maintain peace and stability along its western frontier.
