In a significant move underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to securing its western frontier, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, conducted a thorough visit to South Waziristan’s Wana region. This visit aimed to closely examine the current security environment along the volatile Pakistan-Afghanistan border and evaluate the operational readiness of troops engaged in counterterrorism efforts. The visit highlights the military’s ongoing focus on stabilizing this strategically sensitive area, which has long been a hotspot for militant activity.

During his time in Wana, the Field Marshal took a solemn moment to honor the sacrifices made by Pakistani soldiers who have lost their lives defending the nation. He paid his respects at the martyrs’ memorial, where he laid a floral wreath and offered prayers. Emphasizing the critical role these sacrifices play, he remarked that the bravery and dedication of fallen soldiers form the bedrock of Pakistan’s security and national stability. This gesture not only reflects deep respect for the armed forces but also serves as a morale booster for the troops stationed in challenging conditions.

Following the tribute, Field Marshal Asim Munir received a detailed briefing on the security situation in the region. The briefing covered ongoing intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and the comprehensive measures being implemented to strengthen border management. Particular attention was given to the progress of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, a key military campaign targeting militant hideouts and infrastructure. The operation’s latest developments were discussed extensively, alongside the dynamic security challenges emerging along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The Field Marshal also engaged directly with officers and soldiers deployed at forward positions, acknowledging their professionalism, high morale, and unwavering operational readiness despite the persistent threat of clashes. His interaction with the troops underscored the importance of their role in maintaining the country’s sovereignty and combating terrorism. He praised their dedication and assured them of the military leadership’s full support in their mission.

Addressing the broader security concerns, Field Marshal Munir strongly condemned the use of Afghan territory by militant groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan for launching attacks against Pakistan. He made it clear that such cross-border terrorism is unacceptable and warned that Pakistan would continue to take all necessary actions to neutralize these threats. Furthermore, he stressed that sustainable peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan hinges on the Afghan government’s commitment to preventing terrorist organizations from operating within its borders.

Upon his arrival in Wana, the Field Marshal was warmly welcomed by the Corps Commander Peshawar, reflecting the importance of this visit within military circles. The meeting between the two senior commanders further reinforced the coordinated efforts underway to secure the region. Overall, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit not only served as a strategic assessment of ongoing operations but also as a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its borders and maintain peace in a complex geopolitical environment.
