On Tuesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a significant telephonic dialogue with the President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, focusing on the current volatile situation across the region. This high-level conversation highlighted the mutual commitment of both nations to pursue efforts aimed at fostering peace and preventing further deterioration of regional security.

During their exchange, both leaders stressed the critical need for all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any escalation that could exacerbate tensions. The Prime Minister voiced his profound concern over the intensifying crisis in the Middle East, specifically condemning the recent Israeli military action against Iran. He also expressed regret over the subsequent attacks targeting other allied Gulf countries, underscoring the gravity of the unfolding conflict and its potential impact on regional harmony.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif updated President Erdogan on his recent diplomatic outreach to the leadership of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with these brotherly nations and emphasized Islamabad’s readiness to contribute constructively to any initiatives aimed at de-escalating the crisis. This diplomatic engagement reflects Pakistan’s broader strategy to act as a stabilizing force amid regional uncertainties.

In addition to discussing the Middle Eastern turmoil, the Prime Minister also briefed President Erdogan on the latest developments concerning Afghanistan. Given the shared interests of Pakistan and Turkiye in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan, the two leaders agreed to maintain close and frequent communication. They pledged to coordinate their efforts more effectively to support initiatives that can bring lasting peace to the war-torn country and the wider region.

This conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan underscores the importance both countries place on regional cooperation and dialogue. Their commitment to working together reflects a shared vision of a peaceful and stable neighborhood, which is essential for economic progress and security. As tensions continue to simmer in various parts of the region, the collaborative approach adopted by Pakistan and Turkiye serves as a hopeful example of diplomatic engagement aimed at conflict resolution.
