Trump Details U.S. Strikes on Iran to Halt Nuclear and Missile Advances

In a detailed address from the White House East Room on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that he personally authorized recent military strikes against Iran. The operation aimed to disrupt Tehran’s advancing nuclear development and its rapidly expanding ballistic missile program, which the administration views as an escalating danger to regional and global security. This statement marked Trump’s most comprehensive explanation of the conflict since the initial attacks, moving beyond the brief video messages and short phone interviews he gave over the weekend, which had previously presented inconsistent goals regarding the military engagement.

President Trump emphasized the immediacy of the threat posed by Iran, asserting that the strikes represented the “last best chance” to neutralize what he described as an intolerable menace from a “sick and sinister regime.” Although he did not provide concrete evidence to support the claim of an imminent threat, his remarks underscored the administration’s rationale for launching the offensive. The president conveyed a sense of urgency and resolve, highlighting that the military campaign was progressing faster than anticipated, though he refrained from disclosing specific operational details.

Initially, Trump had estimated that the U.S. military efforts might span four to five weeks, but he acknowledged the possibility of an extended timeline depending on how the situation unfolds. Central to the campaign’s objectives is the prevention of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons capability—a charge Tehran has consistently denied. Alongside this, the U.S. aims to dismantle Iran’s long-range ballistic missile program, which Washington views as a critical component of Tehran’s strategic threat.

“An Iranian regime equipped with nuclear arms and long-range missiles would pose an unacceptable danger not only to the Middle East but also to the American people,” Trump warned. He further reported that U.S. forces had successfully neutralized ten Iranian naval vessels, stating that these ships were now “at the bottom of the sea,” signaling a significant blow to Iran’s maritime capabilities. The president expressed confidence in the ongoing military campaign, reinforcing the message that the United States remains committed to large-scale combat operations aimed at eliminating the threats posed by Iran’s government.

Beyond targeting nuclear and missile programs, Trump outlined additional strategic goals of the campaign. These include the destruction of Iran’s naval forces and the prevention of Tehran’s support for militant groups operating throughout the Middle East—a longstanding concern for U.S. policymakers. The president framed these objectives as essential to maintaining regional stability and protecting American interests abroad.

Addressing the human cost of the conflict, Trump acknowledged the sacrifice of four American service members who have lost their lives during the operations so far. He paid tribute to their memory and vowed to continue the mission with “ferocious, unyielding resolve” to neutralize the threat that Iran’s regime poses to the United States. His remarks sought to rally public support for the campaign while underscoring the gravity of the challenge ahead.

As the situation develops, the international community remains watchful of the consequences of this intensified confrontation. The U.S. administration’s firm stance signals a willingness to sustain pressure on Iran to curb its controversial programs, even as diplomatic efforts face significant obstacles. The coming weeks will be critical in determining the trajectory of this conflict and its broader implications for peace and security in the Middle East.
