Pakistan Reports Significant Taliban Losses in Retaliatory Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq

Pakistan has announced substantial progress in its ongoing military campaign against the Afghan Taliban, reporting heavy casualties and destruction inflicted on militant forces. Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar revealed that the retaliatory operation, named Ghazab-lil-Haq, has so far resulted in the deaths of 415 Taliban fighters, with an additional 580 injured. This operation marks a significant escalation in Pakistan’s efforts to counter cross-border militancy.

Minister Tarar detailed that Pakistani forces have successfully demolished 182 Taliban checkpoints, severely disrupting the militants’ control and movement in the region. Furthermore, 31 other Taliban positions have been seized by Pakistani troops, indicating a strategic gain on the ground. The operation also targeted the militants’ heavy weaponry, with 115 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces reported as completely destroyed, which would considerably weaken the Taliban’s combat capabilities.

In addition to ground offensives, the Pakistani military has conducted a series of airstrikes targeting 46 separate locations within Afghanistan. These air raids focused on militant strongholds and logistical hubs, aiming to dismantle the Taliban’s operational infrastructure. The combined use of air and ground forces underscores the intensity and scale of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, reflecting Pakistan’s determination to curb insurgent activities that have long affected its border regions.

It is important to note that the figures and claims presented by the Pakistani government have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate comment from Afghan officials or the Taliban regarding the reported losses and damage. The lack of confirmation leaves some uncertainty about the full impact of the operation, though the Pakistani military’s statements suggest a robust campaign against militant elements.

This development comes amid ongoing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where militant groups have frequently launched attacks, prompting cross-border responses. Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq appears to be a decisive move by Pakistan to retaliate against such incursions and to dismantle Taliban networks operating near its frontier. The operation’s outcomes will likely influence the security dynamics in the region and could affect future relations between the two neighboring countries.
