Abbottabad police successfully recovered a 17-day-old infant on Wednesday and apprehended four individuals involved in the kidnapping. Among those arrested was a childless woman who confessed to abducting the newborn from a local hospital, claiming she did so in a desperate attempt to preserve her marriage.

District Police Officer (DPO) Haroon Rashid Khan announced at a press briefing that the swift operation was conducted within hours of the infant being taken from the Women and Children Hospital in Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The main suspect, identified as Aisha Bibi, admitted to planning the abduction due to domestic pressures related to her inability to have children. Alongside her, police detained three accomplices: Fayyaz Ahmed, Hazala Bibi, and Wahab Ali. Authorities also seized the vehicle used during the kidnapping.

The investigation began promptly after the infant’s father, Siraj, a resident of Jhangi Sayyedan, filed a kidnapping report at the Cantonment Police Station. DPO Rashid Khan explained that a specialized police unit employed advanced digital forensic techniques, analyzed CCTV footage, reviewed hospital duty schedules, and gathered physical evidence to track the suspects to a hideout in the Kathwal neighborhood of Nawan Shehr.

Following the successful recovery, a delegation from the infant’s family visited the DPO office to thank the police leadership for their rapid and effective response. The child was reunited with the family immediately after the press conference.
