Four Children Killed in Drone Strike in South Waziristan Tragedy

A tragic drone strike in the Ghwa Khwa area of South Waziristan on Thursday resulted in the deaths of four children from the same family, plunging the community into mourning. Multiple missiles were fired targeting what was described as “suspicious vehicles” and militant activity, but the attack instead inflicted severe harm on civilians.

Residents reported that the strikes destroyed a vehicle and caused significant damage to nearby homes. The four children lost their lives instantly, and several others were wounded. Witnesses recounted scenes of chaos and panic as the explosions echoed across the region.

Meanwhile, in Hangu, a mortar shell landed in a crowded market near a petrol station in Dorri Banda amid crossfire, killing four people and injuring twelve more. The injured from both incidents were taken to local hospitals, with the most critical cases transferred to Peshawar for advanced medical treatment.

The frequent occurrence of such attacks in populated areas has sparked outrage among the residents of South Waziristan and Wana. Local elders and eyewitnesses highlighted that militants often evade these strikes by seeking shelter, leaving innocent civilians, especially children, to suffer the consequences.

One local resident expressed deep concern, stating that children cannot even play outside without facing danger. Following the twin tragedies in Ghwa Khwa and Hangu, the community has urged authorities to focus on safeguarding civilian lives and property.

As security forces intensify operations and tighten control in areas like Zargari, the people remain hopeful for an end to decades of conflict and a genuine move toward lasting peace in the region.
