In a significant development, a private plaza on Tariq Road in Karachi has been sealed due to non-compliance with mandatory fire safety regulations. Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi led a comprehensive review meeting focused on fire safety audits of both government and private structures throughout the city.

During the session, Deputy Commissioners from various districts presented updates on the progress of safety inspections. They confirmed that audits have been completed for a total of 775 buildings. Of these, 197 buildings are currently in the process of implementing required safety measures, while 285 buildings have already met substantial compliance with fire safety protocols.

The Commissioner issued a strict directive requiring all commercial buildings to fully adhere to fire safety standards without delay. He emphasized that immediate action must be taken to install essential safety equipment, including fire alarms and fire extinguishers, across all premises in Karachi.

Furthermore, the meeting resolved that any building failing to comply with these regulations will face immediate closure. Commissioner Naqvi also mandated the installation of emergency exit signs and smoke detectors in every building to enhance occupant safety during emergencies.

These stringent measures reflect the city’s commitment to preventing fire hazards and ensuring public safety. The Commissioner reiterated that non-compliant buildings will be sealed promptly to enforce these critical safety standards.
