Varun Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ First Look Creates Buzz

The initial glimpse of the upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has been revealed, generating significant excitement online. The movie features Varun Dhawan in a dual role, alongside co-stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, promising a blend of romance, comedy, and chaotic situations.

The teaser, which debuted on April 14, opens with two babies conversing and realizing their fathers share the same name, Jass—both characters portrayed by Varun Dhawan. The trailer then transitions to scenes where Varun’s characters are romantically involved with two women simultaneously, setting the stage for what is described as a “double trouble love story.” Varun described the film as a David Dhawan-style entertainer and confirmed its theatrical release date as May 22, 2026.

Following the teaser’s release, fans quickly began drawing parallels between this film and the 2006 movie Sandwich, which starred Govinda and featured a similar storyline involving a man leading a double life. Social media users highlighted the plot resemblance, with some questioning if the new film might be a remake. Additionally, comparisons were made to Varun Dhawan’s earlier film Judwaa 2, which also showcased him in dual roles.

Originally, Sandwich centered on a man managing two marriages and juggling a double life, a premise that appears echoed in the new film’s narrative. While some viewers embraced the nostalgic elements, others expressed reservations about the similarities, reflecting mixed reactions to the concept.
