Carol Kirkwood was visibly moved during her last broadcast on Breakfast after an unexpected moment unfolded live on air. The veteran presenter, who has been a staple on the show for nearly 30 years, showed deep emotion as she signed off for the final time.

In a significant development, her husband, Steve Randall, made a surprise appearance on the set carrying a large bouquet of flowers. This was unexpected as he had previously told her he would not be attending. Reacting with surprise, Kirkwood said, “You told me you weren’t coming in! You’re in trouble.” This heartfelt gesture transformed the broadcast into a touching and personal farewell.

Throughout the broadcast, Kirkwood’s emotions were evident as she marked the conclusion of her 28-year tenure on Breakfast. Randall later revealed his excitement about spending more time with her, sharing that he often wakes at 2:45am to prepare her tea before she leaves for work. This intimate detail resonated with viewers, adding warmth to the farewell moment.

Kirkwood has been one of the ’s most recognisable weather presenters, delivering forecasts to millions over the years. She married Randall in December 2023 in what she described as a “perfect and intimate” ceremony. Her departure signifies the end of an era for the programme, leaving behind a memorable and emotional moment for audiences.
