The legal representatives of former US President Donald Trump have declined to disclose financial information requested by the in connection with a $10 billion defamation lawsuit, as revealed through court filings.

The case originates from Trump’s allegation that the defamed him by selectively editing a 2021 speech concerning the January 6 Capitol riot, which he claims distorted the original context. The has denied these accusations and is actively seeking dismissal of the lawsuit.

In a significant development, the has subpoenaed financial documents from the Donald J Trump Revocable Trust, overseen by Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. The broadcaster demands comprehensive details on assets, holdings, tax returns, and valuations related to nearly 400 entities associated with the trust.

The contends that these records are essential to evaluate the purported financial damage inflicted on Trump’s business interests, including his brand, real estate, and commercial ventures.

Trump’s lawsuit, initiated in Florida in December, claims at least $5 billion in damages based on allegations of deceptive and unfair trade practices under state law. His legal team accuses the of deliberately and maliciously defaming him by misrepresenting his January 6 remarks.

Meanwhile, the maintains that its editing was justified and fair. Court documents argue that Trump’s continued political prominence contradicts claims of reputational harm.
