Pakistan has introduced the Quantum Valley initiative aimed at fostering technology startups by linking local entrepreneurs with international markets and offering young innovators opportunities to expand their ventures globally. This program is part of the larger Uraan Pakistan initiative and has been developed in collaboration with global innovation platforms Plug and Play and the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC).

At the launch event, Seena Amidi, Managing Director of Plug and Play Tech Centre, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting Pakistani entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses. Founded in Silicon Valley in 2006, Plug and Play was created to assist entrepreneurs worldwide in overcoming common startup challenges such as fundraising, customer acquisition, and team building.

Amidi emphasized that the most significant hurdle for startups is assembling a strong team, describing human capital as essential for growth. She noted that Plug and Play has expanded beyond Silicon Valley to various countries to better understand local cultures and tailor its approach accordingly. “I am thrilled to collaborate with Quantum Valley to learn about Pakistan’s culture and help its entrepreneurs thrive,” she stated.

Plug and Play aims to facilitate market access for Pakistani startups and strengthen connections between the country’s talent pool and the global business ecosystem through its partnerships.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal described the initiative as a transformative step for Pakistan’s technology and innovation landscape. He pointed out that Plug and Play and CIC will bring international innovation expertise to Pakistan, enabling local entrepreneurs to elevate their businesses to new heights.

Iqbal expressed optimism that this collaboration would empower Pakistani tech entrepreneurs to build companies with a global presence. He stressed that the initiative aligns Pakistan’s development with 21st-century demands, where technology, knowledge, and human capital are critical drivers.

The minister also highlighted that the facility will offer young Pakistanis the chance to pursue their technological ambitions on an equal footing with their global counterparts. Additionally, the Global Acceleration programme under Quantum Valley is expected to extend international opportunities to more Pakistani youth, fostering the creation of globally recognized brands.

Overall, the Quantum Valley initiative is set to enhance the startup ecosystem by providing entrepreneurs with access to international networks, markets, and innovation expertise, positioning Pakistan as a competitive player in the global tech arena.
