Shakira and Burna Boy Release Official 2026 World Cup Anthem

Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy have collaborated on “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The track fuses Latin and Afrobeats styles into a vibrant multilingual pop song, reflecting the global spirit of the tournament.

The anthem features a dynamic mix of rhythms and includes lyrical nods to several competing nations and football powerhouses. In one verse, Shakira mentions countries such as Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands. The song alternates between English and other languages, with Shakira and Burna Boy exchanging verses before coming together in a duet.

In a significant development, FIFA recently announced that Shakira, Madonna, and K-pop sensation BTS will headline the World Cup’s inaugural final halftime show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This star-studded lineup was curated by Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin. The halftime event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to enhance children’s access to education and football worldwide.

Shakira had previewed “Dai Dai” last week with a video shot at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium, where she was seen dancing on the pitch and singing the opening verse. She is no stranger to World Cup anthems, having performed the widely acclaimed “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.

FIFA regularly partners with international artists and brands to produce official and promotional songs for its flagship event. Earlier this year, Coca-Cola released its own World Cup anthem, a reimagined version of Van Halen’s “Jump,” featuring Colombian singer J Balvin alongside Travis Barker, Amber Mark, and Steve Vai.

The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, taking place during June and July.
