ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced strong condemnation of the recent attacks targeting Azerbaijan during a phone conversation with President Ilham Aliyev. The discussion reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Azerbaijan amid ongoing regional challenges. This exchange took place on Friday, coinciding with the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, when both leaders extended heartfelt greetings to each other and their respective peoples.

In their cordial conversation, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed warm wishes to the citizens of Azerbaijan, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations. President Aliyev reciprocated by sending his regards to Pakistan and expressed hopes for unity and harmony within the broader Muslim Ummah. Such exchanges highlight the enduring diplomatic ties and mutual respect shared by Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Beyond the Eid greetings, the prime minister took the opportunity to strongly denounce the recent hostile actions against Azerbaijan, reiterating Pakistan’s full support for its sovereignty and security. The official statement issued by the government underscored Pakistan’s commitment to standing alongside Azerbaijan during these turbulent times, reflecting a consistent foreign policy stance that prioritizes regional stability and cooperation.

The conversation also encompassed broader regional dynamics, with both leaders addressing the escalating tensions in Iran and the Gulf region. They expressed serious concern over the potential ramifications of these developments, stressing the urgent need for dialogue, peaceful resolution, and the maintenance of stability in these strategically vital areas. This shared apprehension reflects the interconnected nature of security challenges facing the Middle East and South Asia.

In a separate diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Sharif spoke with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, exchanging Eid felicitations with him, his government, and the Malaysian people. During this call, both leaders highlighted the critical importance of de-escalating tensions in the Gulf and reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. Strengthening these ties remains a priority as both countries seek to foster economic and political cooperation.

Furthermore, as part of a wider diplomatic outreach amid the current instability, Prime Minister Sharif held discussions with leaders from other allied nations, including Uzbekistan. These conversations consistently emphasized the necessity of reducing regional hostilities and preventing any further escalation of conflicts. The prime minister’s outreach signals Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting peace and collaboration across neighboring regions.

These diplomatic efforts come at a critical juncture marked by heightened volatility in the Middle East, where recent military escalations have raised serious concerns about energy security and the potential for broader geopolitical fallout. Pakistan’s leadership is actively engaging with regional partners to advocate for restraint and constructive dialogue, aiming to safeguard peace and stability in an increasingly complex international environment.
