Ministry Denies Viral Video of Khawaja Asif Comparing Pakistan with India

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a firm denial on Monday regarding a video that has been widely circulated on social media platforms. The clip allegedly features Defence Minister Khawaja Asif making a comparison between Pakistan’s development and that of India since their independence. However, the ministry clarified that the video is fabricated and the minister never made such remarks.

The contentious video, lasting nearly one minute, appeared to show Khawaja Asif speaking at a press conference broadcast by a prominent news channel. In the footage, the speaker seemingly encourages citizens to evaluate the country’s current state and contrasts Pakistan’s progress with India’s. This clip quickly gained traction online and was even reported by several Indian media outlets, including News18, which published articles based on the purported statements.

In a significant development, the Information Ministry took to its official X account to address the misinformation, stating that the video is fake and the voice heard is generated using artificial intelligence technology. The ministry emphasized that Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has not made any such comments and urged the public to verify news from official sources before sharing or believing such content.

This incident highlights the growing challenges posed by AI-generated media and misinformation in the digital age, underscoring the importance of critical evaluation of online content. Meanwhile, authorities continue to monitor and combat the spread of fabricated news that can potentially harm public perception and diplomatic relations.
