In Islamabad, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday to discuss bilateral cooperation and the current regional situation. Both officials emphasized the importance of continued dialogue to foster peace and stability.

Dar expressed optimism about the recent positive developments in Pakistan-US relations, highlighting that diplomacy remains essential for achieving lasting peace. He underscored that fully implementing the June 18 Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding is crucial for moving forward.

The deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding its national interests while actively contributing to regional peace and security. Meanwhile, Baker acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting stability across the region and extended her greetings to Dar on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. Earlier, the US embassy in Pakistan shared an Independence Day message from Baker on social media, congratulating the nation and reflecting on the longstanding relationship between the two countries.

In her video message, Baker noted that the United States was proud to be among the first nations to recognize Pakistan’s independence. She emphasized that the friendship between the two countries has strengthened over the past eight decades and wished peace and happiness to all Pakistanis celebrating the day with their families.

Concluding her message, Baker extended heartfelt Independence Day greetings, saying, “Jashn-e-Azadi Mubarak!” on behalf of herself and the US diplomatic mission in Pakistan.
