    Dar Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to SAARC in Key Meeting

    ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) during a meeting with SAARC Secretary General H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Tuesday.

    Dar praised the secretary general’s efforts to enhance regional cooperation and emphasized the critical need for revitalizing SAARC in accordance with the principles outlined in its Charter. He highlighted that an active regional organization is vital for promoting connectivity, sustainable development, and the overall welfare of South Asia’s population.

    In a significant development, Dar pointed out that South Asia’s demographic and economic potential remains one of the region’s greatest assets. He stressed the importance of leveraging these opportunities through strengthened regional collaboration among member states.

    Reiterating Pakistan’s firm commitment to the SAARC process, the deputy prime minister expressed support for initiatives aimed at deepening cooperation within the organization. Meanwhile, Secretary General Md. Golam Sarwar expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent backing of SAARC and its institutions, acknowledging the country’s constructive role in fostering regional and global peace.

    As the secretary general approaches the end of his tenure, Dar extended his best wishes for his continued success and future endeavors, underscoring the importance of sustained partnership for South Asia’s progress.
