Three NADRA Officials Arrested for Issuing CNICs to Afghan Nationals

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended three high-ranking officials from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on allegations of unlawfully issuing Pakistani national identity cards (CNICs) to Afghan nationals. The suspects include Additional Director Shoaib Ahmed, Deputy Director Rameez Raza, and Superintendent Naveed Aslam from the Kot Addu NADRA Service Centre.

The FIA stated that these officials reportedly facilitated the fraudulent issuance of CNICs by incorporating Afghan nationals into Pakistani family records, thereby bypassing legal protocols. This operation was conducted by the FIA Multan Circle under the guidance of Assistant Director Yasir Khattak and the supervision of FIA Multan Zone Director Ata-ur-Rehman.

In a significant development, the FIA has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused under multiple legal frameworks, including the Foreigners Act, the NADRA Ordinance, relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), and anti-corruption statutes. The suspects have been transferred to the FIA Multan Circle for further inquiry.

Authorities are expected to delve deeper into the case to uncover the full scope of the alleged network and identify any other individuals involved in this fraudulent activity. The investigation aims to ensure accountability and uphold the integrity of the national identity issuance process.
