On Wednesday, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia formalized a memorandum of understanding aimed at broadening their collaboration in the security sector. The agreement was signed in Riyadh by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif.

This MoU creates a structured framework for cooperation between the two countries’ Ministries of Interior, focusing on scientific research, training programs, and the exchange of expertise. It is designed to enhance institutional capacities and foster joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.

Prior to the signing, Minister Naqvi engaged in discussions with Prince Abdulaziz regarding bilateral security cooperation and coordination between their respective ministries. The talks included a review of the overall relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with an emphasis on strengthening security ties.

Both ministers also explored mechanisms to improve coordination and shared perspectives on issues of common concern. This agreement complements the existing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors such as trade and investment.

In a significant development, the MoU not only formalizes collaboration in training, research, and institutional development but also lays the groundwork for ongoing engagement on security-related matters, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
