General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to meet with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir. Upon arrival, General Tokel was honored with a guard of honour presented by an army contingent, reflecting the respect between the two militaries.
During their discussions, the two leaders focused on issues of mutual professional interest, regional security challenges, and opportunities to deepen bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Munir emphasized the longstanding historical, cultural, and strategic connections between Pakistan and Turkiye, praising the robust defence partnership shared by their armed forces.
In a significant development, General Tokel also visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Their talks centered on professional matters and the prevailing regional maritime security environment, highlighting the importance of naval collaboration.
Meanwhile, the Turkish commander called on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters (AHQ) in Islamabad. The meeting concentrated on enhancing bilateral military cooperation and exchanging views on professional interests. General Tokel commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and recognized their vital role in promoting regional peace and stability.
The military leadership noted General Tokel’s commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation and institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Turkiye, underscoring the brotherly relationship between the two nations.
