Iran Appreciates Pakistan’s Support Amid Rising US-Israeli Tensions in Region

In a significant gesture of diplomatic appreciation, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi extended heartfelt thanks to the government and people of Pakistan for their unwavering support during a period of heightened tensions involving the United States and Israel. Speaking on Monday, Araghchi acknowledged Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran as the Islamic Republic faces external pressures and aggression from these foreign powers. His message, shared on the social media platform X, was delivered during the sacred month of Ramadan, underscoring the spiritual and moral dimensions of this regional alliance.

Araghchi’s statement emphasized Iran’s firm reliance on divine guidance and its resolute commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity despite the ongoing challenges. He described these moments as “blessed, divine, and spiritual,” highlighting the profound significance of Pakistan’s support in such testing times. This expression of gratitude reflects the deep-rooted ties between the two neighboring countries, which have historically maintained close diplomatic and cultural relations.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, shed light on Islamabad’s proactive diplomatic engagements aimed at addressing the evolving geopolitical landscape. Speaking to a private television channel, he revealed that Pakistan’s leadership is maintaining continuous dialogue with key Muslim nations to navigate the complexities of the current regional situation. Sanaullah mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently held discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, further reinforcing bilateral ties and mutual understanding.

In addition to these talks, the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia was highlighted as part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic efforts to foster stability and cooperation in the Muslim world. Rana Sanaullah pointed out that Pakistan continues to honor its defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, signaling Islamabad’s commitment to regional security frameworks. He expressed optimism that ongoing conversations between Saudi and Iranian leadership could pave the way for improved peace and stability across the Middle East.

Addressing concerns about regional conflicts, Sanaullah urged Iran to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions with fellow Muslim countries, particularly Saudi Arabia. This appeal reflects Pakistan’s balanced approach to maintaining harmony among its neighbors while safeguarding its own national interests. Furthermore, the adviser clarified Pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan, emphasizing that Islamabad neither seeks dominance over Afghanistan nor intends to harm its sovereignty. Instead, Pakistan’s primary objective remains the prevention of any threats that could jeopardize its own security.

On the domestic front, Rana Sanaullah also commented on recent administrative changes within Pakistan’s provinces. He confirmed that the governorships of Sindh and Balochistan will be entrusted to members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), dispelling rumors about any commitments made to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) regarding the Sindh governor’s post. This clarification comes amid ongoing political maneuvering and reflects the government’s intent to consolidate its administrative control in these key provinces.

Overall, these developments highlight Pakistan’s active role in regional diplomacy and its efforts to balance complex relationships with neighboring countries. The mutual support between Iran and Pakistan during this period of external pressure underscores the significance of solidarity among Muslim nations in the face of geopolitical challenges. As the situation continues to evolve, Islamabad’s diplomatic initiatives and strategic partnerships will remain crucial in shaping the future stability of the region.
