The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially commenced the distribution of financial assistance under its Ramazan relief package, starting from Peshawar today. This initiative aims to provide crucial support to vulnerable segments of society during the holy month of Ramazan, ensuring that those in need can meet their basic necessities amid ongoing economic challenges.
Under this comprehensive program, each eligible family will be granted Rs12,500 to help alleviate the financial burdens that often intensify during Ramazan. The government has allocated a substantial budget of Rs13 billion to fund this relief effort, reflecting its commitment to social welfare and poverty alleviation. The Finance Department has already disbursed the necessary funds to the Social Welfare Department, which is responsible for overseeing the distribution process.
official records, the Ramazan package is set to benefit a total of 1,016,394 individuals across the province. The distribution will be carried out in all 35 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with local authorities such as Deputy Commissioners, District Social Welfare Officers, and Additional Deputy Commissioners entrusted with supervising the smooth and transparent delivery of aid. This decentralized approach is intended to ensure that assistance reaches the deserving recipients efficiently and without delay.
The program specifically targets orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities, recognizing their heightened vulnerability during times of economic hardship. Additionally, individuals who are temporarily homeless are also included in the list of beneficiaries, highlighting the government’s inclusive approach to social protection. This broad eligibility criterion aims to cover a wide spectrum of disadvantaged groups to maximize the impact of the relief package.
Among the districts, Peshawar will see the highest number of beneficiaries, with approximately 108,500 individuals slated to receive the financial aid. Other districts with significant numbers include Swat, where 67,500 people will benefit, Mardan with 60,486 recipients, and Charsadda, which will support over 40,000 individuals. These figures underscore the widespread need for assistance across the province and the government’s efforts to address it comprehensively.
To facilitate a hassle-free collection process, eligible individuals will be notified through mobile phone messages, informing them about the availability of their Ramazan package. Beneficiaries can then collect their funds from any designated shop within their respective districts. This method not only ensures convenience but also helps maintain transparency and accountability throughout the distribution process.
As the holy month progresses, this financial aid is expected to provide much-needed relief to thousands of families, enabling them to observe Ramazan with dignity and ease. The provincial government’s proactive measures reflect its ongoing dedication to supporting marginalized communities and mitigating the socio-economic challenges faced by many during these difficult times.
