In a devastating incident near Lahore on Sunday, two individuals lost their lives while eight others sustained injuries in a road mishap on the National Highway close to the Chohang area. The accident occurred when a van traveling from Lahore towards Phool Nagar suddenly veered off the road and collided with a roadside electric pole.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the van was moving at a high speed, which likely caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle skidding off the highway. The impact of the collision was severe enough to cause immediate fatalities at the scene, while several passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries.

Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, were promptly dispatched to the location after receiving distress calls from witnesses and passersby. Upon arrival, they quickly began rescue operations, providing first aid and transporting the injured to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment. The bodies of the deceased were also recovered and taken to the hospital for post-mortem examinations.

This accident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on major highways around Lahore, where speeding and reckless driving remain significant issues. Authorities have urged drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future. Meanwhile, investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the crash and whether any mechanical failure or negligence contributed to the incident.

Local residents and commuters expressed their sorrow over the loss of lives and called for enhanced safety measures, including better road signage and stricter enforcement of speed limits. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by unsafe driving practices on busy routes connecting urban and rural areas.
