DG ISPR to Address Media on Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions Amid Ongoing Military Operation

The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, is scheduled to hold a significant press conference today at 4pm to update the nation and media representatives on the current situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. This briefing comes at a critical juncture as tensions between the two countries have escalated following recent hostile incidents.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest developments, including the military’s ongoing response to what Islamabad has described as an unprovoked assault by the Afghan Taliban regime. The operation, named Ghazab-ul-Haq, has been underway for several days and involves coordinated strikes aimed at neutralizing militant threats along the border region.

It is important to highlight that the Pakistani military has reported substantial gains during this operation. Official sources have stated that approximately 133 Taliban fighters have been killed, while over 200 others sustained injuries as a result of retaliatory actions carried out by Pakistan’s armed forces. These figures underscore the intensity of the conflict and the military’s determination to secure the border area.

Moreover, the operation has reportedly inflicted significant damage on Taliban infrastructure. Multiple military headquarters, artillery units, tanks, and several check posts belonging to the Afghan Taliban have been destroyed, disrupting their operational capabilities. This strategic targeting aims to weaken the militants’ hold on the region and prevent further cross-border attacks.

As the situation continues to evolve, the press conference will serve as a vital platform for the military leadership to clarify Pakistan’s position and outline the next steps in maintaining border security. The ongoing operation reflects Islamabad’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of its citizens amid complex regional dynamics.
