In a significant development, security forces killed four militants and apprehended five suspects during a coordinated intelligence-based operation in the Telgai mountain range of Wazir tehsil, Bannu. The operation was launched following actionable intelligence and involved personnel from Bannu Police, the Counter Terrorism Department, the Rapid Response Force, and other law enforcement agencies.
The militants engaged the advancing security personnel with gunfire, resulting in a fierce exchange that lasted nearly seven hours. During the confrontation, four militants were killed, and five suspects were taken into custody and moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Authorities recovered the bodies of two militants at the scene, while the remaining two were reportedly carried away by their comrades during their retreat. Additionally, security forces seized two Kalashnikov rifles, another rifle, ammunition, and various other equipment from the site.
Notably, SHO Basia Khel Police Station Inspector Rashid Khan and Constable Wajid Khan sustained minor injuries during the firefight. Both were promptly hospitalized and are reported to be out of danger. The operation was led by Bannu District Police Officer Captain (retd) Muhammad Farqan Bilal.
Meanwhile, search and clearance operations are ongoing in the area to ensure the complete neutralization of militant threats and to secure the region further.
