KP Chief Minister Unveils Rs200 Billion Development Plan for Hazara Division

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, has revealed an ambitious development package valued at Rs200 billion aimed specifically at the Hazara Division. This significant announcement came during a high-level meeting convened at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, where provincial leaders and parliamentarians from Hazara gathered to discuss the upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP) in detail. The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to accelerating regional progress through targeted investments.

One of the key highlights of the package is the allocation of Rs50 billion exclusively for tourism-related initiatives. Recognizing the untapped potential of Hazara’s scenic landscapes and cultural heritage, Afridi emphasized the importance of boosting tourism infrastructure to generate economic growth and employment opportunities in the region. This dedicated funding aims to develop tourist sites, improve accessibility, and promote sustainable tourism practices.

During the discussions, parliamentarians strongly advocated for the dualization of the Haripur–Mansehra GT Road, a critical artery managed by the National Highway Authority (NHA). This road serves as a vital link for commuters and trade, and its expansion is expected to enhance connectivity and safety. Responding to these appeals, the Chief Minister assured that the provincial government would contribute financially to complement federal efforts, ensuring the project’s swift execution and improved travel conditions for the public.

In addition to infrastructure and tourism, Afridi announced a major administrative development by confirming the upgrade of Allai into a separate district. This move is anticipated to bring administrative convenience and focused development to the area, addressing local needs more effectively. The Chief Minister also stressed that the forthcoming fiscal year’s development agenda would differ markedly from previous plans, with a clear focus on large-scale projects that deliver tangible public benefits and the timely completion of ongoing schemes.

To ensure transparency and efficiency, the government will prepare PC-1 documents for all proposed projects before finalizing the ADP. Special attention will be given to underdeveloped districts within the province, aiming to reduce regional disparities and promote balanced growth. The consultative process will continue, with parliamentarians from Hazara Division tasked to organize separate sessions to propose additional schemes for inclusion in the special development package.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures including the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, along with members of both the National and Provincial Assemblies representing Hazara Division. Their involvement highlights the collaborative approach being adopted to ensure that the development package addresses the aspirations and priorities of the local population comprehensively.
