Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has called for growing the province’s digital payment system so residents can settle utility bills and government dues online. He made the case during a meeting with a delegation of digital financial services providers at the Chief Minister’s House.
Sindh seeks easier online payment of official bills
The talks focused on making government revenue collection more transparent and offering citizens quicker, simpler ways to pay official bills and challans. Shah said helping the public meet government dues is a top priority for his administration. He stressed that modern technology could spare people from visiting government offices in person, cutting red tape and saving time.
Officials told the meeting that digital payments are already used for traffic e-challans and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) bills. Shah said he was interested in adding Sindh Food Authority challans to the system.
Sindh Bank and IT department to review partnerships
Shah said wider digital payment access would improve transparency, efficiency and accountability across government departments. He also reaffirmed the Sindh Government’s commitment to digital governance and a cashless economy across the province. He directed Sindh Bank and the provincial Information Technology Department to examine possible areas of collaboration with digital payment service providers.
Both sides agreed to expand the digital recovery system for official bills and challans, making government services more accessible and transparent for the people of Sindh.
