In a tragic incident at the Dajal interprovincial check post in Bhakkar district, two Punjab Police constables lost their lives while another sustained injuries in a suicide bombing. The attack unfolded during the iftar hour, a time when many were breaking their fast, adding a somber dimension to the violence. The check post, strategically located on a river bridge that connects Punjab with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, came under a sudden and brutal assault, shaking the local community and law enforcement agencies alike.

District Police Officer Shehzad Rafiq Awan provided details about the attack, confirming that Constables Faheem Abbas and Shehbaz Madni were the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. The injured officer, identified as Constable Arshad, was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Reports indicate that his condition remains critical, prompting authorities to ensure he receives the best possible care.

The incident has drawn a strong response from the Punjab Police leadership. Inspector General Abdul Karim publicly honored the fallen officers, describing their sacrifice as “eternal” and reaffirming the department’s commitment to supporting the families left behind. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved relatives and emphasized that the welfare and security of the martyrs’ families are a top priority for the police force. The IGP also highlighted the resilience of Punjab Police personnel, stating that every officer stands firm as a “lead wall” against militant threats targeting the region.

This attack comes at a time when security forces in Pakistan continue to face persistent challenges from militant groups operating along provincial borders. The Dajal check post, serving as a critical checkpoint between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, plays a vital role in maintaining law and order and preventing the movement of extremists. Such attacks not only threaten the lives of security personnel but also destabilize the fragile peace in the area.

In the aftermath of the blast, local authorities have intensified security measures across the district to prevent any further incidents. The community has expressed grief and solidarity with the families of the martyred officers, recognizing their bravery and dedication in the face of ongoing threats. As investigations continue, officials are working to identify those responsible and bring them to justice, underscoring the government’s resolve to combat terrorism and protect its citizens.
