At least 20 passengers were injured on Wednesday when a bus traveling from Multan to Jhang veered off the Jhang-Multan Road near Gharaybun Kutia in the Saddar area of Jhang and plunged into a roadside ditch. The driver lost control after a motorcyclist suddenly appeared from the Ali Abad Link Road onto the main highway, forcing the driver to swerve sharply to avoid a collision.

This abrupt maneuver caused the heavy vehicle to skid off the paved road and fall into a deep ditch alongside the highway. Rescue 1122 teams responded promptly to the emergency call and arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations.

Paramedics administered first aid to 15 passengers who sustained minor injuries, allowing them to be treated on-site and discharged. However, five passengers with critical injuries were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jhang for urgent medical care. The hospitalized victims include Riaz Hussain, 65; Muhammad Toheed, 18; Ahmad Saleem, 12; Razia Riaz, 50; and Abubakar, 14.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in the Ahmadpur Sial tehsil of Jhang district, a fatal collision occurred between a mini-truck and a loader rickshaw on Muzaffargarh Road near the Pir Abdul Rehman Stop. The crash resulted in the death of a 70-year-old man named Muhammad Tufail, who died at the scene due to severe injuries. Another individual involved was injured and transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Ahmadpur Sial for emergency treatment.
