The Sindh Education Department officially announced on Monday that summer vacations for all schools in the province, including both public and private institutions, will be observed from June 1 through July 31. This decision aims to provide students and educators a much-needed break during the peak of the hot season.

Notably, this announcement came shortly after Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, revealed the summer holiday schedule for schools in his province. his statement earlier the same day, schools in Punjab will commence their summer break on May 22, extending until August 23. This results in an extended vacation period of over three months for students in Punjab, significantly longer than the two-month break planned in Sindh.

These vacation schedules have been welcomed by students and teachers alike, as the country continues to experience intense heatwaves. Meteorological authorities have issued warnings about the ongoing hot spell, forecasting that high temperatures are likely to persist in the coming weeks. Alongside the heat, the Met Office has cautioned about the possibility of flash floods, urban flooding, windstorms, and dust storms affecting various regions.

Furthermore, the weather department highlighted concerns that the rising temperatures could lead to severe weather events such as strong winds, hailstorms, and dust storms. These conditions pose a threat not only to public safety but also to seasonal agriculture, including crops, vegetables, and orchards. The timely announcement of summer vacations is therefore seen as a proactive measure to safeguard the well-being of students and staff amid these challenging weather conditions.
