The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has selected 1,700 recent engineering graduates for its flagship Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program, which offers a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 along with six months of industry training nationwide. The selection process for the program’s second batch was completed through a transparent digital balloting system.

The announcement was made during a ceremony at the PEC Regional Office in Lahore, inaugurated by Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir. Senior officials and governing body members participated virtually. Out of 5,300 applicants, 3,982 candidates were shortlisted after initial screening, from which 1,700 were chosen via digital balloting.

The program is facilitated through dedicated online portals for both employers and engineers, with collaborations established with prominent public and private sector organizations to provide structured, industry-based training. Notably, 300 seats have been specifically reserved for engineering graduates from Balochistan, all of which have been filled. The remaining 1,400 selected candidates hail from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir highlighted that the special allocation for Balochistan is intended to broaden opportunities for the province’s youth, reduce socio-economic disparities, and promote their inclusion in the national engineering workforce. He described the GET program as a transformative initiative aimed at equipping young engineers with practical, industry-relevant skills.

He further emphasized PEC’s commitment to merit, transparency, and equal opportunity across all regions. Investing in fresh graduates, he noted, will enhance Pakistan’s engineering capabilities and contribute to sustainable national development.

The GET program is fully funded by PEC and structured as a six-month “house job”-style training, including five months of fieldwork and one month dedicated to skill development. Participants receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 and, upon successful completion, are awarded a certificate featuring QR code verification.
