KP MPA’s Brothers Persist in Imposing High-Loss Feeders at Bannu Grid Stations

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has highlighted ongoing challenges at Bannu grid stations, where the brothers of a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) continue to insist on the installation of high-loss feeders. These feeders are known for causing significant energy losses, which undermine the efficiency and reliability of the local power distribution network. The persistence of this practice raises concerns about the influence of political figures on technical and operational decisions within the power sector.

High-loss feeders contribute to increased electricity wastage, resulting in financial losses for the utility company and higher costs for consumers. In regions like Bannu, where power supply stability is already a critical issue, such actions exacerbate the challenges faced by both the utility and the end-users. The situation underscores the broader problem of political interference in infrastructure management, which can hinder efforts to improve service delivery and reduce technical losses.

Addressing these issues is vital for enhancing the overall performance of the power distribution system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PESCO’s report serves as a call for stricter regulatory oversight and the need to insulate technical decisions from undue political pressure. Ensuring that feeder installations are based on technical merit rather than political influence will be crucial for achieving sustainable improvements in electricity supply and reducing losses in the region.
