Three female bodies have been retrieved from the sea off the coast of Brighton following a tragic incident. Emergency responders remain on site, conducting ongoing searches for any additional victims.
Sussex Police have issued a public advisory urging people to stay clear of the shoreline as investigations proceed. Witnesses described the event as deeply distressing, emphasizing the importance of vigilance to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Chief Superintendent Adam Hays stated, “This is a heartbreaking situation, and swift inquiries are underway to identify the three women and determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.” He further appealed to the community, saying, “While emergency personnel carry out their duties, we ask the public to avoid the area. Updates will be shared as soon as more information becomes available.”
The coastguard has been actively involved in the response, deploying a helicopter and rescue teams from Shoreham, Newhaven, Littlehampton, and Birling Gap. Additionally, three RNLI lifeboats from Brighton and Shoreham are assisting in the search efforts.
