Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, expressed high praise for Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masud’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s banking and financial sectors during an interactive event held on Sunday. The session took place at the residence of notable businessman and community leader Dr Abid Sheikh in New York, where Ambassador Sheikh and Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai both shared their admiration for Masud’s achievements.
In their remarks, they highlighted Masud’s unique ability to transform a deeply personal tragedy into a source of inspiration and learning for others. They also emphasized the vital role played by the Pakistani-American community in enhancing Pakistan’s image abroad and fostering stronger ties between Pakistan and the United States.
Masud, who survived the devastating PIA Flight 8303 crash in 2020, shared insights from his professional career and discussed key themes from his acclaimed book, “Seat 1C.” He spoke about the importance of resilience when confronting adversity, purposeful leadership, and the valuable lessons that arise from life’s most difficult experiences.
The event attracted members of the Pakistani-American community, who engaged actively in the discussion. Dr Abid Sheikh, welcoming the attendees, praised Masud’s distinguished career in Pakistan’s financial industry and lauded his book for its profound reflections on resilience, leadership, gratitude, and meaning. He noted that the book’s lessons extend well beyond the tragic circumstances of the PIA crash, where Masud was one of only two survivors.
The session concluded with a lively question-and-answer segment, followed by informal interactions between Masud and community members, fostering a sense of connection and shared purpose.
