ISLAMABAD: FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have jointly emphasized the need for constitutional reforms within the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to promote stronger governance and ensure the sport’s sustainable growth in the country.

During recent discussions focused on enhancing the federation’s governance framework, both organizations highlighted the importance of structural changes to improve administrative effectiveness and long-term stability.

Rolf Tanner, Head of Governance for FIFA Member Associations, stressed that revising the PFF Constitution is crucial. He pointed out that the principle of separation of powers remains central to good governance, noting that the last significant update to the PFF Constitution was made in 2014.

In a significant development, PFF President Mohsen welcomed the call for reforms, acknowledging that governance improvements are vital for the advancement of football in Pakistan. He further emphasized that any further postponement in implementing these constitutional changes is unacceptable, underlining the urgent need to modernize the federation’s governance structure.

The proposed amendments aim to bring the PFF’s governance in line with international standards, thereby reinforcing the institutional framework necessary to support football development throughout Pakistan.
