Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi inaugurated a Rs2.6 billion mobile veterinary healthcare initiative on Thursday, aimed at expanding veterinary services throughout the province. This ambitious project will establish 145 mobile veterinary clinics alongside 27 laboratory units to serve various regions.
The initiative, named “Ehsaas Be-Zuban Sehat Gaari,” will also deploy 202 veterinary doctors and assistants to operate these mobile units. These clinics are designed to offer vaccination and treatment services for livestock at the tehsil level, ensuring wider accessibility. Furthermore, the mobile veterinary network will be integrated with a central digital dashboard to streamline operations and monitoring.
During the launch, Afridi emphasized the project as a blend of thoughtful planning, compassion, and dedication. He stressed that no farmer should be deprived of veterinary care due to remote locations, highlighting the government’s responsibility to safeguard animals lacking a voice.
He further explained that the primary goal is to prevent livestock diseases and enhance productivity, which is crucial for millions of families in the province who depend on livestock for their livelihood. The project particularly targets farmers in remote and underdeveloped areas, providing them access to modern veterinary services.
In a significant development, Afridi stated that ensuring safe and quality food for the population remains a key objective of the government’s efforts. This mobile healthcare project marks a major step toward improving animal health and supporting the agricultural economy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
