Funeral prayers for five people found dead in a house in a private housing society near Gulshan-e-Hadeed, in Karachi’s Bin Qasim area, were offered at Faizan-e-Madina Mosque in Gulshan-e-Hadeed. A large number of local residents attended. The bodies are due to be buried at a local cemetery in Bin Qasim Town.
Police have decided to form a team to carry out further investigation. The five victims were discovered at the house during the night between Monday and Tuesday. One of the dead was Shahzaib, whose cousin Ali reportedly went to the Edhi morgue to collect his body, according to sources.
Cousin describes Shahzaib’s estrangement and wealth
Ali said Shahzaib had been cut off from his relatives for roughly five to six years. He said Shahzaib had married around the same time and had recently sold one of his houses. According to Ali, Shahzaib was getting ready to move into another home valued at Rs250 million.
Ali said the family had no idea why Shahzaib had taken such an extreme step, and added that they would pursue any legal proceedings arising from the incident. Separately, a close friend of Shahzaib urged police to examine the money he had reportedly held and establish where it had ended up.
Handwritten note points to financial strain
Police recovered a handwritten note from the scene that reportedly referred to the family’s money problems and tense relations with relatives. According to reports, the note suggested Shahzaib had received no backing from relatives during a hard period. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances behind the deaths.
