The federal government of Pakistan has officially declared Wednesday, August 26, 2024, as a public holiday in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which corresponds to the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal in the Islamic calendar year 1448 AH. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a significant occasion for Muslims across the country.

In a notable development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave his approval to the proposal for the holiday, underscoring the importance of this religious event in Pakistan’s cultural and spiritual life. Following the Prime Minister’s endorsement, the Cabinet Division promptly issued an official notification confirming the nationwide holiday.

As a result, all federal government offices, departments, and institutions will remain closed on August 26 to allow citizens to participate in various religious activities. Eid Milad-un-Nabi is traditionally marked by special prayers, processions, and gatherings where people come together to honor the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

This annual observance holds deep significance in Pakistan, where communities organize events to reflect on the Prophet’s message of peace and compassion. The holiday provides an opportunity for reflection and celebration, reinforcing the spiritual heritage that shapes the nation’s identity.
